Verify Calibration and Fine Tune
Now that step 3 is complete your tune should be dialed in. Now it's time to verify the calibration and give everything a good double over.
Go ahead and turn the ignition key on and plug the usb cable in, write the tune to the quarterhorse and then start the log BEFORE you crank the engine.
At this point, the engine will still be warming up, begin driving the vehicle. For this log you will
simulate ALL driving conditions, drive the vehicle like you would normally, simulate merging onto a highway
as well as stopping for a redlight from 50mph and abruptly taking off again, then floor it WOT and hold it there until you reach your shift rpm or 6000 rpm,
slowly coast back down to speed and pull over safely to stop the log,
unplug the usb cable and SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, turn the ignition key back on and plug the USB cable back in, start logging and then CRANK the engine,
do not touch the throttle, let the engine idle for 3 - 5 minutes or longer if its required to get the engine to a stable (non surging) warm idle. Stop the log after the engine is idling stable.
you can then post the log, don't forget to zip the log by right clicking and "send to" >> "compressed (zipped) folder.
If your WOT fuel and spark is dialed in then its highly advisable to swap in a new plug, it doesn't matter what plug, which ever is easiestly accessible. Replace
the plug with a new plug and go out and make a WOT pull, be sure to log the pull. Immediately pull over after the pull and remove the plug. I will need two photos
of the spark plug. Snap a good close up of the backstrap showing the burn mark across the middle, be sure to have the angle so as that all the plug threads are
visible, and another photo from the top looking down into the ceramic (i need to be able to see the bottom down inside there). This step is optional but highly
recommended. If you do not have a digital camera, a camera phone is ok. You can attach the photos to your tune progress thread. Be sure to zip the photos in their
own zip file and not in a single zip file with the logs too.
After I review everything, I'll post back an updated tune that should make the engine happier.
DO NOT forget to zip the log, if its not zipped the forum will not let you post it, so the datalog must be zipped (.zip file), you should be able
to right-click on the datalog file and click on "send to" >> "compressed (zipped) folder", then just post the file it created (which will be the .zip file),
in your Private Tune Progress Thread.
If you have any issues along the way don't hesitate to give me a shout on my mobile: five zero four six zero six zero five three two
Note: Step 4 may span over more than just 1 tune and log iteration to verify the vehicle is properly tuned and performing as desired.
If you will be taking your vehicle to the track or a dyno to get a rwhp number, let me know before hand and I will
provide you with additional test tunes to load for the dyno or track. See the POST Tune Instructions for more details.
